Large withdrawals: source-of-funds check and timing
Small withdrawals are automatic. Large ones go through a check the HGC imposes on every licensed operator — and those who prepare for it in advance barely notice it.

When the check kicks in
Fonbet, like every HGC-licensed operator, applies a source-of-funds check (SoF) when cumulative withdrawals or deposits pass a threshold — in practice around €2,000 cumulative, but it can trigger earlier on an unusual profile (e.g. large deposit, minimal play, immediate withdrawal).
It isn’t suspicion. It’s an AML obligation that applies to banks, brokers and betting operators alike.
What’s requested
One or more of the following, depending on the amount:
| Document | When it suffices |
|---|---|
| Tax return / clearance (latest year) | The most common and complete proof |
| Salary certificate or last three payslips | Employees |
| Bank statement, 3 months | Shows the income flow |
| Proof of property sale / inheritance | For one-off large amounts |
| Business registration & tax return | Self-employed |
Uploaded from the Profile or sent to [email protected] as PDF/photo. Redact what’s irrelevant (e.g. other transactions), but not the name, date and amounts.
How long it takes
In our tests: 1–2 business days from sending the documents to approval. The withdrawal that had been “frozen” executed immediately after. To save time: send your tax return proactively after verification, before it’s requested. Support accepts and files it.
Which method for large amounts
| Method | Time after approval | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| IRIS | Minutes–hours | Ideal up to ~€5,000; bank daily limits apply |
| Bank transfer (SEPA) | 1–2 business days | For five figures — no bank limit |
| E-wallets | Up to 24 hours | If you deposited with the same |
| Card | 1–3 business days | Slowest, avoid for large amounts |
Fonbet charges no fee. Your bank may charge for an incoming SEPA — usually zero within the EU.
Tax: already withheld
The amount you see in your balance is net — tax (sliding per slip/session, after the €200/€300 coverage) was withheld at settlement. The withdrawal creates no tax obligation; winnings aren’t declared as income.
Money withdrawn from a licensed operator comes with a full transaction history in your account. If you ever need to justify a deposit to your bank — it’s there.

FAQ
Why do they ask for proof of income?▾
An obligation under anti-money-laundering (AML) law, which the HGC enforces on every licensed operator. It isn’t Fonbet’s choice.
How many times is the check done?▾
As a rule once, when cumulative withdrawals pass a threshold. It’s repeated only if your transaction profile changes drastically.
Can I withdraw €10,000 in one go?▾
Yes, by bank transfer or IRIS, after the check. Fonbet may split it into several payments for technical reasons — the total arrives.
